Set shortly after the conclusion of A Goofy Movie, this scene depicts Goofy and his son, Max, taking a photo at the mall photo studio where Goofy works, to commemorate their reconciliation. As such, I imagine us looking into this scene through the photo studio's camera.
For many reasons, I think the classic Goofy animated shorts are hilarious and brilliant. There's something about this wholesome, more grounded side of Goofy, though, that holds its own unique appeal. He really is a good dad who wants the best for his son. I love that.
In this painting, the main colors of the wall, carpet, and clothing all stay true to the movie, except for the green photo backdrop. I chose green as the backdrop's color for two reasons: I wanted to add more variety to the painting's color palette (it otherwise would have been a dull grey), and I wanted to emphasize the painting's association with Goofy. Whenever I think of Goofy, I think of green—mostly because of his hat.
I have a pair of pants like Goofy's here. Mine are a pair of jeans whose pant legs are a little too short (or maybe I just have long legs). I still wear them today. Most likely, I wore them at some point while painting this piece.
